Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is situated in southwestern Uganda an impressive green swathe through the steep side of the Albertine Rift Valley. The old rainforest is among the very few within Africa to have blossomed and a place to find half of the decreasing in numbers mountain gorillas. Staring into the impressive brown eyes of the giants is definitely probably the most thrilling and emotional wildlife encounter in Uganda.

Historical Background
Gazetted back in 1942 The Impenetrable Forest Reserve was later upgraded in 1992 to the current Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and in 1994 acknowledged as a World Heritage Site. Bwindi in the native Rukiga language   means ‘Impenetrable.’ Bwindi is all but dense; 327 sq. km of twisted vegetation covered over a profoundly fissured terrain of steep, evasive valleys plus high, draughty sides. However, if the landscape is not easy to work out, it is definitely worth the efforts. A trek through Bwindi, one of the most old rainforests in Africa, looking for the decreasing in numbers Mountain Gorillas, rates as one of the globe’s leading wildlife activities.

Warm clothing is needed in addition wet weather-gear given that Bwindi gets as much as 2390mm of rain a year. This is centered during 2 wet seasons, the short rains from March to May whereas the heavy rains from September to November. Rather than short tropical torrent, rain within Bwindi frequently falls as lengthy hours of gentle drizzle.

MGAHINGA NATIONAL PARK

Mgahinga Gorilla is the tiniest national park in Uganda. However, it’s also among the most remarkable as it located  on the northern inclines of mountains Sabyinyo, Muhabura and Mgahinga  , 3 volcanoes that form a memorable regional background. These peaks are 3 of the 6 Virunga volcanoes which mark the southern end of the Albertine Rift Valley and so are portioned between DR Congo, Uganda and Rwanda. The Virungas are habitat to over half of the population of the decreasing in numbers mountain gorilla. There are 380 individuals wandering the slopes of these volcanoes whereas the other 340 stay in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda. Luckily for the gorillas, the small area of Mgahinga is supplemented by those of 2 larger, connecting parks – Virunga NP in DR Congo    and Volcanoes NP in Rwanda

Although gorilla tracking certainly is the most well-known activity in the park, Mgahinga is worth a visit merely to enjoy the scenery. A selection of hikes enables all abilities, which range from the Eight hour returning trip to the peak of Mt. Muhabura, to mild walks across the downer slopes below the wonderful 3 peak background. The park encounters 2 rainy seasons; from March to May and from September to November. However October is actually the wettest of all, with average rainfall of 250mm and July is the driest with only 10mm.

PARC NATIONALE DES VOLCANS
Dian Fossey a prestigious primatologist wrote that In the middle of Central Africa, really at high point that you actually shiver a lot more than you do sweat, are wonderful, old volcanoes high up nearly 15,000 feet, and almost engrossed in abundant, natural rainforest – the Virunga. Located in   northwestern  Rwanda, the Parc des Volcans safeguards the steep inclines of this wonderful mountain range – habitat of the uncommon mountain gorilla – as well as the rich variety of montane ecosystems, that take hold of evergreen plus bamboo forest, heath, open grassland as well as swamp  .

An exciting trek within the cultivated lower slopes of the Virungas presents mixing views everywhere. Then, suddenly, the trail gets into the national park, submerging trekkers in the mystical closeness of the verdant  rainforest, alive calls of multi-colored birds, sounds   of the uncommon golden monkey, in addition to plagued by fresh spoor of the  hard to pin down  buffalo plus elephant populations. Through spaces within the forest canopy, the wonderful peaks are seen, readily accessible and some of the highest within Africa, signaling an ascent

The lively market town in Ruhengeri has an unforgettable setting along the bottom of the Virungas. Around the borders of this town, the all-natural bridge found at Musanze which is a solidified lava-flow is a amazing relic of the long ago volcanic activity which shaped this beautiful area. Additionally in a day trip range of Ruhengeri are the hardly ever visited although beautiful Lakes Karago, Burera plus Ruhondo. Ruhengeri provides a great variety of fairly -priced little hotels plus guest houses, such as the recently refurbished hotel Gorilla’s Nest. The Visitors can as well base in Gisenyi or even Kigali and starting early go to the Parc des Volcans as well as Ruhengeri for day visit.
