Now, more than ever, we need to conserve water. Some people argue that one way to do that is to eat less meat. They believe eating less meat for just one day a week will make a tremendous impact on our environment and our water supply. You may not think about it, but even free range, organic, locally produced meat takes an awful lot of water to sustain. We just put in on the table as a option for a Meatless Earth Day this April 22^nd, 2015!

Conserving water and saving the environment by going meatless

Over 51% of all Greenhouse Gases are due to livestock. The livestock industry emits more than all types of transportation worldwide. How is that possible, you ask? It’s because livestock produces gases that are 20 times and 296 times more powerful than all other Greenhouse Gasses: Methane and Nitrous Oxide. On top of that, raising livestock for the purpose of food production takes nearly half of the water used in the entire United States. Going meatless for just one day a week will make a world of difference:

1. Reduce CO² production
2. Reduce methan/nitrous oxide production
3. Save large amounts of water
4. Reduce polluting our streams/rivers/oceans
