A cultural development organization that was founded in 1986
by 'Mr. Rwangyezi Stephen' on basis of flourishing African culture on the
continent and abroad.
The word 'Endere' is a Luganda verb meaning 'Flute,'
therefore 'Ndere Troupe' means 'Flute Troupe'
Stephen used the Flute to symbolize:
Beauty, from its music that it produces which expresses
different moods in life like Love, thoughtfulness, loneliness, sorrow, romance,
happiness, among others.
It also symbolized unity. This is because all cultures
around the globe bare a flute. Ndere Troupe emphasises at enjoying such rich
differences.
The troupe was established in times when written words never
existed. Africa's cultural history, literature, wisdom, were only passed onto
different generations through performing arts, dance, music, story telling and
poetry.
It's earlier pride of educating still prevails in efforts to
salvage and conserve African heritage. This performance a collection of more
than 40 authentic Ugandan dances and songs accampanied by different indigenous
perenssive, stringed and wind instruments. It also engages in various projects
aimed at keeping African generations educated about traditional entertainment
and also uses traditional entertainment to spread knowledge about such current
issues as modern farming techniques and HIV/AIDS.
The Troupe has over years acted as Uganda's culture
ambassador. This is through performing on different stages over seas for almost
25years now, such as on graduations, festivals, conferences, lauches, weddings,
opening ceremonies, anniversaries, expos, dinners, among others. This has
lifted their loyalty to a multi-award winning cultural group on the continent
and overseas.
