Differences between safaris in Uganda and Tanzania ~ Gorilla Tour Booking Safaris
Differences between safaris in Uganda and Tanzania
There are simple but unifying differences between safaris in Uganda and Tanzania. I’m writing this article to educate those who may want to travel to both countries-It is highly possible to travel to Uganda and Tanzania while enjoying your African adventure and the good part of the story is that, you don’t need to look for tour operators from both countries; there are two operators that offer tour itineraries in both countries.  Below is the list of differences, there is no bias in these differences and are all the differences are based on personal insights:

Serengeti national park Vs Queen Elizabeth national park

In Tanzania, the major wildlife national park is Serengeti national park and for Uganda, it is Queen Elizabeth national park. Queen Elizabeth, according to Uganda’s statistical abstract, always holds the first position when it comes to the number of visitors that come to the park however this is not the case for Serengeti national park, but still, the park attracts a reasonable number of tourists.
In most cases, a boat cruise is done along wildlife safari.

When you check some of the tourists activities to do in most national parks in Uganda, you shall find that wildlife and boat cruise co-exist in most parks. Parks like Queen Elizabeth national park, Lake Mburo national park, Murchison falls national park, attract both wildlife and boat cruise activities. In Tanzania, the story is different; much as some parks are crossed by water bodies, there is little boat cruise activities. Another common activity among national parks in Tanzania is birding.
In Tanzania, the northern part of the country is rich in Tourism.

Although Tanzania was declared the best safari destination in Africa, safaris are majorly concentrated in the northern part of the country in national parks like Tarangire national park, Lake Manyara national park, Serengeti national park, Arusha National park, Ngorongoro crater and Kilimanjaro national park. Other parts in Tanzania also contain national parks but they attract little tourism traffic than the north.  In Uganda, it is all about the western part of the country-That part of the country is so blessed with a great number of national parks.

National Parks are easily accessible by roads after some hours of driving in Uganda.
One beauty of doing a safari in Tanzania is that you don’t get so much fatigue however Uganda offer a more natural way of experiencing your safari since you shall have to drive some good distance. Most parks don’t require you to drive for more than 5 hours before you get to them. This is highly possible given the fact that there are international airport near the busiest tourism parts of the country. If you want to go to the northern part, it is always better to use Kilimanjaro International airport. And for the case of Uganda, the only international airport is Entebbe international airport which requires hours of driving to get to the nearest national park from the airport -Lake Mburo national park.
