The Tour Program
Day 1: Arrive at Kigali Airport, Stay overnight in Kigali.
On entrance at Kanombe airport in Kigali, you will be welcomed by our tour representative who will transfer you to Chez Lando Hotel (Budget), Classic Hotel (Midrange) or Serena Hotel (Luxury) for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Do a half-day Kigali City Tour and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park.
On this day, you will have a Kigali City tour during which, you will visit the Genocide Memorial Museum, The National Museum and the craft market at Nyabugogo before settling down for lunch. Shortly after lunch, you shall have a charming drive through the hilly topography of Rwanda’s countryside to the Volcanoes national park, the habitat for the endangered Mountain Gorillas in Rwanda. This smooth drive will take you between 2:30 – 3 hours. Dinner and overnight at Muhabura Hotel or Kinigi Guest House (Budget), Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge (Deluxe) or Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (Luxury)
Day 3: Gorilla tracking and afternoon Nature walk/Cultural walk.
Do have a delicious breakfast at the lodge, then be driven to the park offices for a thorough briefing by a professional park ranger and then initiate your unforgettable gorilla walking adventure which normally takes 3 to 8 hours in the wilderness. Upon sight of the gorillas, you will be allowed to stay in their presence for a maximum of an hour. You will see how the vegetarian gorillas feed, play and how the male silverback observe over the entire family. After this memorable encounter, walk back to the starting point to a waiting vehicle and return to the hotel for relaxation. Later on in the day, you may go for nature wander. Get dinner and overnight at the same accommodation of the previous day.
Day 4: Dian Fossey Grave Hike and drive back to Kigali.
After a morning meal, you will go for the trek up to Dian Fossey grave, a renowned American zoologist who devoted much of her life researching and making conservational efforts to lives of the mountain gorillas until she was brutally killed on December 26, 1985 and buried on this mountain. Fossey undertook an extensive study of gorilla groups over a period of 18 years. After this 2-3 hours hike; you will drive back to Kigali, do some small craft or souvenir shopping and later transfer to the airport for a departure flight.
