It’s an amazing experience to tour gorillas in Uganda and Gorilla in Rwanda. This double tracking of mountain gorillas gives you a chance to develop a personal touch and observation of the gorillas. It is natural that someone may only get satisfied with a single-day gorilla tour except when he/she does it twice to different destinations and families.

Uganda/Rwanda Double Gorilla Tracking – 6 Days Bwindi Impenetrable Forest,

Day 1: Arrive in Uganda.

When you arrive at Entebbe Airport, a driver guide will pick you up and transfer you to Kampala for overnight at Cassia Lodge, Mamba Point, Hotel Africana, Le Petit Village or Serena Kampala.

Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, the dwelling place for Mountain Gorillas in Uganda.

Early morning between 7-8:00am, your driver guide will you from the hotel in Kampala to initiate your fieldtrip to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in South-western Uganda. You will make a stop at the Uganda Equator for some photos. Uganda Equator is an imaginary point where the Northern Hemisphere separates from the Southern Hemisphere, and it’s a tourist spot for photo taking and handicraft shops. Proceed with the journey to Mbarara Town where you will have lunch. Continue and arrive at the park in the evening. Take an overnight accommodation at Nshongi Gorilla Resort, Gorilla Safari Lodge or Chameleon Hill Lodge (Full Board).

Day 3: Gorilla Tracking in Uganda

Eat breakfast and transfer you to park offices for briefing about Mountain Gorilla trekking by a local guide. The time taken is usually between 2-8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas and the family one is allocated. Meeting the gorillas unexpectedly is one of the most captivating lifetime experiences. You will have a chance to observe and take pictures at very close range. You will observe adults feeding and groaning among themselves, as the minor gorillas play backward and forward from thickets in an enjoyably amusing demo. After an hour with the long-awaited gorillas, your guide and rangers will lead you back to the starting point where your driver will readily be waiting to transfer you back to the lodge for a restful evening. Have dinner and spend an overnight stay at Nshongi Gorilla Resort, Gorilla Safari Lodge or Chameleon Hill Lodge (Full Board).

Day 4: Cross Over to Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park.

After a delicious breakfast, you will drive to cross over to Rwanda via Cyanika Boarder Post. Within 2 hours, you will be in Musanze Town, a neighboring business area to the gorilla park. Overnight stay at Muhabura Hotel, La Palme Hotel or Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (Full Board)

Day 5: Rwanda Gorilla Tracking

Today is another chance of facing gorillas but this time in Rwanda. After a briefing about mountain gorilla tracking, you will be led by the park rangers to the forest in search of the calm primates. Upon meeting them, you are allowed one hour to be in the midst of the gorillas as you observe in admiration and photograph them in excitement when they freely playing, grumbling. After being with gorillas, go downhill to the starting area to meet a waiting guide to transfer back to the lodge.  Dinner and overnight at Muhabura guest house (Budget), La Palme Hotel (mid-range) or Mountain Gorilla View Hotel (luxury)

Day 6: Track Golden Monkeys and drive to Kigali.

In the morning after breakfast, you will transfer to the park offices for briefing but this time round not for gorilla trekking but for golden monkey tracking in the forest of Volcanoes National Park. The process is no much different from gorilla trekking as also one hour is allowed with these monkeys. Afterwards, have lunch and drive to Kigali where you will arrive in the evening. If your flight is on this day, you will be dropped at the airport. But if time allows, you may first have to go the Genocide Memorial Centre in Kigali to witness and awaken memories of the brutality that was put to over 250,000 Tutsi Rwandese during the 1994 countrywide genocide in Rwanda.

Queen Elizabeth incorporates dozens of mirror surfaced crater-lakes, salty and fresh water lakes. There are over 95 mammal including 10 primate species (chimpanzees, vervet, blue, red-tailed, L’Hoest monkey, colobus, baboons),  upto 20 predators (lion, leopard, spotted hyena, etc), antelopes,  buffaloes, hippos, elephants. Day1: Kampala-Queen Elizabeth National Park

ItineraryDay 1: Queen Elizabeth National Park, viewing Rwenzoris, lots of craters lakes and wild animalsDepart from Kampala heading southwest across the country, through Mbarara town, the home to the impressive long horn Ankole cattle. On the way see the royal drum makers, stand on the Equator, bargain at the roadside markets. Descend to Queen Elizabeth National Park, keeping an eye out for game. A short game drive along the Channel track welcomes you into this park as we proceed for check-in at your lodge. The Channel track runs parallel with the Kazinga channel as you drive slowly towards the Katunguru gate. It’s particularly rewarding with warthog, bushbuck, waterbuck and elephants. Depending on the time limits, you may also like to enjoy a safari game drive in the northern sector of the park, the Baboon Cliff famous for its nice scenery, and good views of the shadows of the mountains of the moon – the Rwenzoris. Afterwards you drive back to your lodge through large expanses of savannah grasslands as you spot some wildlife enroute.

Day 2: Safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Game drive to see lions, leopard, elephant, buffallo, etcWe set out early in the morning for a game drive in the northern part of the park on the Kasenyi Track in search of lions, elephants, solitary buffaloes. This is the best time for opportunities of viewing the cats in action owing to the vast population of Uganda Kobs. We have an excellent chance to view just about every animal here at very close range. Return to the lodge for your breakfast, before heading out for a launch trip along the Kazinga Channel. This gives you the opportunity to view wildlife up close: hippo’s huff and spray at a mere feet away from the boat, buffalo linger in the shallows. The shores of the channel are also home to an array of birds including pink backed pelicans, pied and malachite kingfishers, saddle billed stork and many others.
