Introduction
Uganda is regarded as “a vast goldmine that is poorly exploited”; Mount Rwenzori – one of the Africa’s snow-capped mountain ranges; over 50% of the world's endangered mountain gorillas; nearly 11% of the world’s bird population; the breathtaking flora and fauna; the crater lake zone of western part of the country offering some of the spectacular sites for scenery viewing; over 15 national parks, game and other wildlife reserves; the fresh waters of Lake Victoria – the source of the Nile; and the warm and spirited people of Uganda, are major attractions that have been developed for ecotourism activities.

The Adventure

The adventure begins with the optional Kampala City tour. Formally the “hill of impalas” - where it derived its name, traces back to the 1600's when it was established as the capital of Buganda Kingdom.

It sits on 7 hills which were formally the Buganda Kingdom cities. We will drive through prime residential areas, shopping centers, markets, monuments, craft village etc depending on the time we shall have.

We shall take a tour of the famous Kasubi Tombs- the burial ground for Buganda royal monarchs, and later go to the source of the River Nile on Lake Victoria, a point where the Nile starts the 6,500km long journey through Egypt to the Mediterranean Sea. We shall engage in activities like bungee jumping and grade five white water rafting along the Nile.River Nile

Before leaving the central, we shall tour Mabira forest on a nature walk; go canoeing at Mabamba wetland looking for the awe-inspiring shoebill stork. A game drive and a boat ride in Lake Mburo national park will mark the beginning of the western circuit tour.

Further south west, we explore Bwindi impenetrable forest for the world’s only remaining mountain gorillas; and tour the Batwa communities in Rubuguri, heart-stopping cultural entertainment, cave and waterfall exploration, and other sightseeing activities will be the highlights while with the locals at Nkuringo – Rubuguri.

We leave this part of the country after two days and drive west to the Bunyaruguru crater field. We shall also engage in community experience activities like crater lake exploration, tour traditional local brewing sites, tour the local cultural museum, all complimented by cultural entertainment and storytelling about the legends of the Inhabitants.

Our adventure will become more fascinating while in the unrivalled Queen Elizabeth National park. A game drive and a Launch cruise along the kazinga channel are the most thrilling activities that we shall engage in.

While in Fort Portal area, we shall take a tour to the stalactites and stalagmites of the Nyakasura Hills, make an expedition of the Toro Kingdom palace, and later continue to Kibale forest to meet with wild chimps in their natural home. Our adventure ends in Kampala with a farewell entertainment with the multi-award winning, Ndere Troupe!

Join us for an extraordinary adventure and the eco-tour of a lifetime – a trip with a purpose – a Ugandan Eco Safari Adventure!

Most of the accomodation facilities will include eco composites and a few ecologies that are within the budget limits of our clients.

10 Day Uganda Safari (midrange)
This new mid range itinerary gives everything that the standard 10 day itinerary does, but with a little more consideration for the budget traveler in terms of accommodations. The itinerary includes visits to 4 National Parks, Kibale Forest, Queen Elizabeth, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Lake Mburo National Parks. In the rainforests of Kibale Forest there will be the two opportunities to trek for the chimpanzees. Game drives and a shared boat trip on the Kazinga channel whilst at Queen Elizabeth National Park will reward your senses with the sights and sounds of the open savannah and lush grasslands of this spectacular wildlife reserve. The highlight of the safari is a hike in the Bwindi forests in search of the rare mountain gorilla. An hour spent with one of the habituated gorilla families will provide a lifetime of memories. You will watch the infants and juveniles tumble and play alongside their mothers and as your eyes spot the shining back of the mighty Silverback the hairs on your arms tingle as the excitement mounts and you realise the opportunity which you have been given to share this experience with your fellow trekkers and this incredible apes.

There are 9 diurnal primates, these include, vervet, red-tailed, L’Hoest’s, blue monkeys, grey-cheeked manabey, red colobus, black and white colobus, olive baboon and the most famous of all, the chimpanzee. Although chimp sightings are not guaranteed, the odds are good with the chance of encountering them standing at higher then 90%. This morning you will go on a forest walk in search of primates. Whilst trekking in the depths of the lush green forest, you will be surrounded by bird song and can expect to see at least 5 or 6 other types of primate, most probably the grey-cheeked managebey and the red-tailed monkey and of course the chimpanzee. The walking is fairly easy due to the well-maintained trails and reasonably flat terrain. You will get another chance to trek the chimpanzees in the afternoon, allowing for observation of the chimpanzees during a different section of their daily lives.
Overnight at Primate Lodge (BLD)

Day 4:
Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive passes through Fort Portal and then south along the eastern length of The Rwenzori Mountains, with the hope of viewing the glaciated peaks. We gently descend into The Great African Rift Valley and Queen Elizabeth National Park and Mweya Lodge, situated on a peninsula overlooking Lake Edward and Kasinga Channel, offering beautiful views of the park with the Rwenzori Mountains in the background. Queen Elizabeth National Park resides in a fertile, equatorial area and has beautiful scenery. It is Uganda’s most popular and accessible savannah reserve, with a total area of 1978km². It is primarily associated with grassy savannah plains, but this impressive park also includes within its boundaries, leafy rainforests, dense papyrus swamps and natural volcanic crater lakes. As a result it has one of the highest biodiversity ratings of any game reserve in the world, including a total of 95 recorded mammal species and more then 610 species of birds. In the afternoon, we will explore the park and its wonders on a game drive.
****Alternatively we could have a swamp walk in Bigodi Community and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park in the afternoon. Bigodi village is situated in the highlands of western Uganda, in the shadow of the Ruwenzori Mountains, the famous “Mountains of the Moon”. The swamp walk takes place in the Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary, which is located in the Magombe wetland. The sanctuary is a major eco-tourism attraction in the Kibale Forest area. The Sanctuary is operated by the Kibale Association for Rural and Environmental Development (KAFRED), a registered local community based organization

The terrain is rough and at times muddy. Although the Hike is physically demanding the beauty of the forest and surrounding scenery make the trekking worthwhile. Once the gorillas are located all fatigue is forgotten, as the experience is often described as being the most profound natural history experience in the world. Picnic lunches are provided and it is important to take plenty of water. Cameras and plenty of fast speed film is recommended. It can rain at a few minutes notice; hence waterproof clothing is a good essential including zip lock bags for cameras and film.
